The Disco Retreat Pt. 3
Where to start and how to say thanks for the VIP treatment & wonderful time my wife & I had at the Pomona Mining Company. What a scene and environment with Frank Del Rio, Gabriel Pegasus and all the others on the 1200s. I guess I did lose my BTD virginity last night and it was great(please click this link to see previous post) and now I am addicted. Just wish I could get fix more often but I will take whatever I can get whenever. Also thanks for allowing us to sit with you folks although we did not sit very often, once the music and dancing began you made us feel very comfortable and welcomed---my wife and I have not danced that much in years. The music was off the scale just made me a little upset to realize how many records I have lost or have gone missing. Seeing Cowboy Productions - Ralph was great and talking to him about the old Vinde Champagne\Audio Climax\Brittania backyard barbeques brought back many fond memories. Also met Louie a retired Army buddy & his wife, I believe her name was Virgie (so sorry if I got her name wrong). George & Deanne for adding us to the guest list you guys rock correction you guys Disco. Rick & Sandy thanks so much for the hospitality you showed us & the CDs, we listened to them as soon as we could, they are incredibly awesome. Again thank you folks so very much from the bottom of my heart and hope I/we can someday reciprocate the thoughtfulness and hospitality. You folks are incredibly great, Thank You!, Thank You!, Thank You!

My BTD experience started on 1/1/05, New Years day.
My sister (COPA MIKE'S wife) had come over. We were messing on the computer and she told me to check out this website. Knowing how much I loved Disco,(first club was GIno's II when I was 13) she knew I would love it. As I browsed and clicked around, I first noticed on the home page "IN MEMORY OF..." I saw the name of a friend that I had known back in high school and couldn't believe he had past. (May you be spinning disco in the Heavens Ricky~ Gemini. You are missed) In dis~belief, I clicked on the links and came across an other site where I saw a few more familiar names from my days. I posted there and rec'd a call from someone that eventually gave me Jerry Infinity's number or Vise~Versa (Too much Jager to remember). I had hung out with Jerry's brother Jimmy and the Infinity gang when I was 16. My generation was more on the lines of Danger, Gemini, Nemisis, II Phun, Vission, Trilogy, Debonaire...ect. Jerry and I talked for a while and he had suggested that I go to the Mexican Cafe' for the next event. January 15th. With Handy Dandy Camera in hand, there I was. I was so excited. I didn't know what to expect. When getting ready for the night, I felt like I was 17 again getting ready for the most happening party of the weekend. Once there, I knew I was meant to be there. 2 weeks later at the next event, I had the pleasure of meeting a few of the Gal Pals. The first two were Lisa and DeAnne. They made me feel welcomed and even invited me to the BTD Big Bear trip where I know now they are kicking themselves saying..."WHAT THE HELL WERE WE THINKING" (I know, what happened in Big Bear Stays in Big Bear...unless there are pictures to show otherwise.) LOL!! And here I am!! Almost 7 months later, I have had the opportunity to meet some of the most loving, caring and big hearted people I have ever come across in my whole 21 years. (Flashback, DeAnne, Ro, Vinde, Sally, John and Lovely Celestial, Lori and Efren, Rick and Sandy, how can I forget STEVEN my Buddy, and all the others, you know who you are, too many to name.) Not only do I love BTD for the music that I have said time and time again, is my all time favorite, but for embracing me on a personal level through trying times.
So there you have it, My first BTD experience.
**A personal note:
Johnny Valentino, no words can express the respect I have for you, not only for having passion for "DISCO", a vision that others had, but didn't act on, but for the caring heart of gold that many do not see. Thank you and "SI SE PUEDE" !!!!
ANNIE

I placed a comment in the chat room for you! Keep up the good work, its about the music, and some people don't see it! Believe me, when you have an ear for music, and the moves for dance, you never skip a beat, or miss a step in your heart! Keep doing it for the Music, Yes, its nice to make money, but, you have to love what you do.
I have brought so many people to your arena, and I know, there are some immature people out there but, as an adult, we learn to ignore all the negativity, and laugh and wonder. So ignore the negative people, and keep your positive friends close. So keep up the good work and remember, only you can make you feel the way you do. So keep up the fun work!

In my heart disco will be with me til the day I die, but everything comes to an end. Those of you who have known me since the day, know it has never left my heart, I have always played it at my parties, and I always will. I am sure there are others who feel like I do. There were many nights I wondered what happen, where did it all go? I truley believed it was gone forever. People who knew me but werent part of the L.A Disco Scene would tell me to get over it! My answer was always "HELL NO!!!" This is real music!!!!! I was always told I was the last true disco lover left, I knew there were others!! Now I have found many others like me.
Those of you who are reading this message board and not posting or not attending our parties need to know this too will eventually come to an end, then it will be too late. So my point is, dont procastinate making a post, or better yet attended BackToDisco & AfterDark parties, everyone there is your age, some losing hair, some with gray hair, some with no hair, some have aged, some havent. I understand we all have families and they come first. But mom and/or dad need a break sometimes too. Where better to take it then with old friends who love disco, and play nothing but disco all night long.If you are single, there are many beautiful people here to meet, I met my fiance at an AfterDark disco event No need to worry about your local gang bangers, trouble makers, hoodlums, they are not welcome here! We dont play House, Hip Hop, Techno etc etc...that is what attracts those type, we play nothing but disco all night long. We are one big family, and our arms are open to those of you at home who havent attended one of our events. Most who do continue to return regularly.
Those of you reading this who were at Circus, Ginos, Michaels, The Red Onion, Brandies, The Center, The carousal, The Case are always considered VIP's at our parties. Lets face it, back in the day, Circus or The Casa would get 1500-2000 people in attendance on a regular basis, so there are many many more who have not attended yet. It isnt about money, it all about disco. So if you went to those places in the 70's and 80's, you should come visit us this Satuday and any of our events in the near future, or if you are truley unable to do so, make a simple post and let your presence be known.
If any of you non posters are reading this BackToDisco will be having a tribute to the 70s's this Saturday, it will be a theme party but 70's attire IS NOT REQUIRED. Dont hesitate, you may not have another chance to see all the beautiful people who where there in the 70's and 80's again. We will be honoring Green Eyes Joe Sotos birthday this Saturday.
Where? Mexican Cafe in Covina
When? This Saturday Jan 15th 8:00pm til 2:00 am
Your disco will be provided by the legendary original Circus DJ Martin Rodriguez, along with Johnny Valentino, Domingo, George Flashback, dj Rene, and the original PEGASUS!!!! Also joinging us for the 2nd time spinning with us for the 1st time another legend...ALPHA SURVEYOR!!!!

Very very well said Mr. Flashback. It breaks my heart to hear that some day it will eventually end for us, but I do believe the disco era will continue maybe not as strong, but it will continue. I too wold wonder man, I wish someone would play what I like for a change and thanks to BTD, you guys have brought out the best of me and I thank each and everyone of you. My daughter is also now a disco freak...lol. I do listen and love house, techno, high energy, hip hop/r&b, but disco and high energy live in my soul and will rest with me when I go. I love all you guys (BTD & Afterdark) for the continued success in bring back what we have made a big party of our lives, DISCO.

That's exactly what I used to say! I for one was one of those who was very hesitant to attend one of these events. Richard Soto, whom I’ve known since Jr High called me at work and told me to go to this site. I was then forced by Richard to attend an After Dark (July 10th) event that I really did not want to. Remember Roseann; this is when I first met you too. I was way to old and thought this Disco stuff was a thing of the past. Well here I am over six months later and I have not missed one event since then. I've met my soul mate and a whole bunch of great people including my Gal Pals. It’s also brought me back together with my two best friends Yolie and Lupe who I see more of now. I get to see old friends from the past including Maria (Quack Quack), Willie, Martin, Marcello and Nico who I thought I would never see again. I’m having the time of my life! It’s been a great ride and hopefully this is a long train ride, cuz I’m not getting off. Thanks BTD and After Dark, as I will truly be forever grateful.

I want to share with you
all here at BTD on how much this site has meant to me and what it has done
for me too!. I don't remember what month it was, when I got a call from my
friend Gus Marrufo, to tell me about backtodisco.com, but my life has never
been the same since my first posting. This year alone BTD has put me back in
touch with, not only long lost friends but family too. I keep meeting new
people whom I knew of back in the days but never did get a chance to hang
around with. I knew them and they knew me, or the DJ name I had, and I knew
of them the same way. Now we are all one big happy family and the family
keeps on growing with each party I go to or play at. The best thing of all
is that we were all there at the same time, loving the same music, going to
the same places, knowing the same people, eating and cruising the same hot
spots. I love having you all back in my life again and I know that all our
friends who have passed are looking down at us with big smiles, dancing in
heaven to the music we play at the parties, and sharing stories just like we
do here. So to them I say " To Absent Friends, We Love You And We Miss You "
I have met so many people this year, I can't wait to see who I meet in the
next years to come.
So first, a BIG THANK YOU to Gus Marrufo for telling about this site. Next,
Thank You Johnny V for putting this all together and making everyone feel
welcome. YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!
And Thank You All for being a part of my life again.

Although this clip does not do Polymarchs Justice it is a glimps of the Passion and showmanship that DJ Tony Barrera and Bro Apolinar Silva De La Barrera aka POLYMARCHS from Mexico D.F gave or better yet said are still Giving their Fans after so many Years. Unfortunately TB Tony Barrera is no longer with us he was sadly murdered in 1998. Polymarchs has devoted to keeping the spirit of TB Alive by carrying on with what Tony has Created an Awesome Display of Mobile DJ Monstrosity. He was also a dance Choreographer and I mean Fiebre Movidas!, Producer, he actually wrote the song Duri Duri by Click along side allan Coelho from TAPPS. Well to cut it short he was a true Pioneer in the High Energy Disco Movement in MEXICO. I will soon post more on this Mobile DJ Legend. Note: I only post this because we all share the same Passion and thats to keep this Disco thing Alive!
